Modern Coastal Renovation

This project involved the renovation of a modern coastal home in Woonona, reimagined to balance contemporary architectural clarity with the relaxed sensibility of coastal living. The design centres on openness and connection to outlook, with open-plan living spaces oriented to capture light and views. Expansive glazing frames the surrounding environment while allowing natural light to move freely throughout the interior, enhancing the home’s sense of space and calm.

A restrained material palette was key to the project’s success. Natural timber elements and recycled brick columns introduce texture and warmth, grounding the contemporary design and reinforcing a connection to place. These materials sit comfortably alongside a neutral colour palette, creating interiors that feel refined yet understated.

A cathedral ceiling defines the main living area, adding volume and architectural presence without overwhelming the space. Recessed LED lighting was integrated discreetly to support evening ambience while maintaining clean ceiling lines.

Throughout the renovation, existing elements were thoughtfully retained where possible. A custom timber door was crafted using the home’s original glass, preserving a sense of continuity while elevating the overall finish.

The result is a coastal home that feels both modern and relaxed — a carefully resolved renovation that prioritises light, material integrity and everyday liveability.
